Anthony Grooms has taught at The University of Cape Coast in Ghana, Södertörns högskola in Sweden and, for more than 20 years at Kennesaw State in Georgia. He the author of ICE POEMS, TROUBLE NO MORE:STORIES and BOMBINGHAM, a novel.  A new novel, THE VAIN CONVERSATION, is forthcoming in spring 2018.  Currently he is a work on novels about black American war deserters in Sweden and school integration in Birmingham, AL.  He is a Fulbright Fellow, a Yaddo Fellow, a Finalist for the Legacy Award from Hurston-Wright Foundation, an Arts Administration Fellow from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the recipient of two Lillian Smith Prizes from the Southern Regional Council.

Writing in MELUS, a critical journal of multi-ethnic literature, Professor Diptiranjan Pattanaik says that Grooms’s work demonstrates “the insider’s profound knowledge of the history and struggles of African Americans, while consistently managing to circumscribe his breadth of understanding with a tender story-telling art.”
